Jan Vallverdú | Curatorial collaboration with Alex Belli

CURRENT

22. May - 31. Juli 2025
C/Monistrol 21, 08012 Barcelona

Opening Hours:
Mo-Fri 17h-20h
Sat 12h-16h
We are pleased to invite you to the opening of ‘NOT YET’, the debut solo exhibition of Jan Vallverdú (Spain, 1995) at the gallery. This new body of work explores the tension between impulse and control, holding its intensity through the precision of gesture and a deep commitment to process.

“His paintings press into a rhythm of restraint — not searching for image, but for weight, resistance, response. There is no final shape to chase here. The work unfolds through repetition, revision, and return. It sharpens. It hesitates. Each gesture moves closer to something unnamed, but felt. ‘NOT YET’ is a state — an insistence — not to finish too soon...”

La Tendresa

Miriam Dema

EXHIBITION

08. April - 13. May 2025
C/Monistrol 21, 08012 Barcelona

Opening Hours:
Mo-Fri 17h-20h
Sat 12h-16h
“Some gestures are born from the desire to approach, to offer, to melt into another. They carry their own weight, their warmth, and a tenderness that needs no words to be understood.

In 'la tendresa', Miriam Dema explores the language of touch as a space of closeness, care, and emotional memory. These works do not narrate; they invite: encounters shaped by soft pressure, shared breath, and the quiet pulse between bodies.

Built through fabric, line, and light, each composition arises from observation and recollection—moments felt more than seen. The result is not representation, but sensation. In the softness of gesture and the colors of night, tenderness takes form...”

BETA is pleased to announce ‘One of us still kicking’, a solo exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Lena Laguna Diel.

“Some forces shape us in ways we can name. Others move through us unseen, emerging in gestures, in imprints, in the spaces between things. Lena Laguna Diel’s ‘One of us still kicking’ traces these invisible currents—the quiet transmissions of memory, the weight of presence and absence, the forms that hold what cannot be spoken...”

Fernando Loyola

EXHIBITION

09. January - 06. February 2025
C/Monistrol 21, 08012 Barcelona

With ‘Trauma Café’, Fernando Loyola invites us into an evocative realm where abstraction meets narrative, and painting becomes a form of invocation. This new body of work, created specifically for his debut solo exhibition, reflects the intensity of Loyola’s process—one that oscillates between control and surrender.

Themes of trauma, discord, and unresolved emotion pervade Loyola’s paintings, yet they do not aim for catharsis. Instead, his works act as conduits, conjuring the intangible through layered marks and suggestive forms. The influence of Surrealism is palpable, not as a stylistic choice but as an outcome of Loyola’s engagement with automatism and chance.

Trauma Café is more than an exhibition of paintings; it is an experience that extends into the physical gallery space through site-specific interventions. In doing so, Loyola transforms the gallery into a meditative yet unsettling environment, echoing the dualities inherent in his work.

BETA is pleased to present ‘Cuando pienso dejo de sentir’, Juan Perdiguero Trillo’s first solo exhibition with the gallery. ‘Cuando pienso dejo de sentir’ takes us into the tension between freedom and confinement, a quiet rebellion articulated through his hands and his medium. Here, painting isn’t bound to conventions or institutions, and its act is both instinctive and intentional.

“The “Diablos Danzantes de Naiguatá” tradition is a Venezuelan cultural manifestation that has stood the test of time, transforming and adapting to contemporary realities. This ritual, loaded with symbolism and deeply rooted in the identity of the Naiguatá community, not only represents the eternal struggle of good against evil, but has also become a space for intergenerational cultural renewal. “
